Question by Veejay: What is the smallest screen resolution there is in Android phones?
I’m making an android phone game and I want my screen resolution to fit the smallest screen resolution there has been that an android phone had. Then if there’s another android phone with a larger resolution, I’ll just re-size it in a scalar manner and just fill the empty parts with black. So then, what is the smallest screen resolution there has been that android phones had?

Answer by Jessica P
The smallest screen is probably the HTC Tattoo with a size of 2.8 inches. The resolution of that screen is QVGA (240×320, low density, small screen).

Verizon 4G LTE So Fast, it’ll Use All Your Data Plan In 30 Minutes

Author admin    Category News     Tags , , ,

verizon 4g lte

PC Mag did some testing with Verizon’s 4G LTE network speeds and found some incredible (and alarming) info about just how fast you’ll carve through your monthly allotment of data usage. In about 32 minutes on Verizon’s network, you’ll be cruising at about 15Mbps downstream, which could go up to 21Mbps depending on the connection and use. While it’s know that hardly anyone is using Verizon’s 4G LTE currently, within a few months, there will be a bit more congestion on the network, but you’ll still see 8-9Mbps speeds according to Verizon.

Clearwire is the longest standing 4G network in operation, and they say the average data in a month from its 4G users is about 7GB, which is technically slower than a true LTE network. So, as awesome as it will be to use LTE, you’ll either pay alot for its use, or you’ll have to really monitor what you’re doing on the network to not blow your 5GB plan out in less than a days surfing. At Verizon’s pricing, thats for a 5GB plan, and no doubt, huge extra fees for going over that usage.

We can only hope that the carriers launching 4G LTE recognize that the speeds and data plans need to meet in the middle somewhere, because the scales are definately tipped in the dollars direction.

World’s Largest Android Smartphone: GIANT Nexus S

Giant Nexus S Android PHone

The Nexus S is the next big thing on the Android phone market. It’s running Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), and Google claims for it to be the fastest phone to date. Check out engadget’s review, it gives a very detailed review of the phone if you’re thinking about it.

If you’re ever around San Carlos, California make sure to pop in to the local Best Buy store to check out the very first massively large Nexus S Android phone by Google.  It’s powered by a regular sized Nexus S and has one heck of a big 42″ touch screen.

If it proves to be a success, look for Google to be rolling out plenty more of the giant phones in other stores nationwide. So hopefully they get a good response, because I would love to have one of these in my local Best Buy!

Here’s a little video review of it. Seems like it’s not so responsive, but what can we really expect from a phone so large. What do you guys think?

Since I’m a huge fan of the Google Android™ Mobile OS I’ve decided to design the Android™ logo in Origami, which turned out to be rather easy (except for adding the antenna).
This one was folded from a 15cm square of tissue foil.

KIRF Droid X shown running Windows Mobile 6.5

Author admin    Category News     Tags , , ,

Fake products are always fun, especially when they actually look pretty legit. Enter this spot-on Droid X KIRF, which resembles the real thing in just about every way save for one major factor… it’s not actually running Android.

That’s right, the makers of this device (for whatever reason) decided to ditch Android in favor of Windows Mobile 6.5. Yes, not 7, but 6.5. We’re not entirely sure why this exists, but you can catch a video of this bizarre creature after the break.

Samsung sells a million Galaxy Tabs, up 50% from 2010 estimates

Author admin    Category News     Tags , , , , , , ,

Less than two months after launch date and after less than a month after its release on T-Mobile, Samsung has officially sold 1 million Samsung Galaxy Tabs. In comparison, Apple sold 2 million iPads in its first two months, though that was not during a holiday shopping season (nor was there competition).

Two weeks ago, Samsung had sold 600,000 Galaxy Tab units and projected that they would reach 1 million units sold by the end of the year. Now that 1 million units sold has been reached, Samsung has upped that end of the year sales projection to 1.5 million. Samsung has also sold 3 million Samsung Galaxy S phones in the US alone. Clearly, Samsung and Android is a strong bond.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab has found a market with its smaller form factor, dual cameras, Google’s Android 2.2 OS, and its compatibility with Adobe Flash. It is now available through some 120 mobile carriers in 64 countries.
