@davomrmac Well to me all that matters is turn by turn and directions to addresses work offline. Does it support that?

  • davomrmac August 18, 2010 at 1:40 pm

@GabrialXue Should have added, some of the live features require a data connection.

  • davomrmac August 18, 2010 at 1:42 pm

@GabrialXue It can be used offline.

  • GabrialXue August 18, 2010 at 2:27 pm

Does this require a dataplan/internet connection to work? or can It be used offline

  • davomrmac August 18, 2010 at 2:49 pm

@Istappen20 No, just the initial purchase price. Though some extras may cost.

  • Istappen20 August 18, 2010 at 2:52 pm

do you have to pay for using it?

I tried CoPilot on a recommendation and had trouble installing it and ended up paying twice for it. Certain software features advertised did not work and I was unable to get any response from their tech support. Finally after a week I get email from them saying that they don’t have to refund the extra $30 that I paid for the program because I had activated it. I would not recommend this product or this company

i was thinking of getting the HTC Desire and installing this on it.
Does anyone know how much space the UK map takes up on the device ?
Can the maps be installed to the SD card?

The update has fixed this problem, on my HTC Hero I can now use the default onscreen keyboard – making life a whole lot easier.

if you install multiple maps for different regions, you can’t select which map to use,

so when you search for suburbs you have superfluous suburbs in other countries that you dontt want to see.

i emailed copilot and they told me i couldnt uninstall/deselect maps from the other countries.

so i uninstall and refund. get it right copilot

One major flaw in this that really puts it down – No QWERTY keyboard until they get round to doing a software update. I’m used to a QWERTY keyboard and I hate these devices that try and re-invent the keyboard to ABC standard. Why? Did these guys never do Human-Computer Interaction, why do you think Sony make the Square button default in the UK on PSx’s and Circle in Japan, to match the computer to what people know that’s why Microsoft ribbons interface is fustrating to most people.

@Magbur – If you think that’s bad try navigating to Old Trafford in Manchester using TomTom. It thinks Old Trafford is a council estate in Mossside and TomTom’s answer – At some point this place might have moved and the authorities haven’t given us the right location yet”, pull the other one Old Trafford is one of the famous places in Manchester (home to MUFC) and it’s never moved and I can’t even believe that the authorities would give them the wrong location for such a famous building!

i dont know if this application has the feature but, is there any android app that allows you to use the GPS like a handheld one for traveling into the wilderness where you might not have phone reception. all i want to use it for is to be able to see where i am at all times on a map with longitude and latitude coordinates. but it has to be able to work way out in the middle of nowhere. like the middle of the ocean or desert or forest. anyone know????

  • gregoryaparker August 18, 2010 at 6:37 pm

The software functions flawlessly… I have been using it for over 2 months with no issues whatsoever. It really is the number one navigation app out there now.. bar none! Perhaps you have some software conflicts on your G1 that keep CoPilot from operating correctly.

no subscription just pay for app, and it will use your phone gps service, you have to have a data service plan though for it to work

  • thewebmogul August 18, 2010 at 9:02 pm

does anyone here know if the live service is free or you have to pay for yearly subscription for this?

I had a bad experience with Copilot Live.
It doesn’t seem to work offline, at least not always.
Today it required all of a sudden a data connection in order to check the google order number.
The previous two days it worked without any active data link, so the order number had been already verified.
I was on a business trip with my personal SIM and could not afford spending for a roaming data connection, therefore Copilot Live refused to start.
As a result, I arrived late at a work meeting.
