If you have an android handset go to all programs then go to settings then go to about phone and at the top of the list is an option called system software updates, and a box marked “check now”.
By clicking on that box the phone will check if there is a relevant update for your phone. HOWEVER , if your phone is locked to a certain network, your updates might not be available for a considerable period of time in order to give the network extra time to fault test it thoroughly.

As far as I’m concerned this is the best argument in the world for never buying a locked handset Much better off with one thats sim free or not locked to a particualr carrier in the first place. I’ve got an HTC desire which I’m waiting to download Froyo(2.2) onto but I cant yet as Vodadone UK in their infinite wisdom havent released their version of it!!! Good Luck

When an update is available, a notification will appear on your phone and you can install the update wirelessly
